MBT 2000 Sole

Built for performance but embraced by everyday walkers, the MBT 2000 sole is a Level 2 rocker-bottom sole that blends advanced biomechanics with real-world durability. Designed to support an efficient, midfoot gait, the sole slightly elevates the heel to reduce strain and promote forward motion—whether you're logging marathon miles or just moving through your day.

The MBT 2000 features a three-part construction: a dual-density foam sole, a rugged, affixed tread, and a rigid EVA forefoot that begins at the Pivot Axis and extends through the toe. This strategic composition ensures impact absorption in the heel and responsive propulsion at toe-off, delivering a ride that feels cushioned yet controlled.

At the rear, the heel sensor is made from a lower-density foam with a precision-placed dimple directly under the calcaneus (heel bone)—a subtle but critical design element that softens initial contact during the gait cycle and reduces pressure on joints.

Used by elite athlete Pedro Nimo in the Chicago and New York Marathons, the MBT 2000 sole is race-tested and runner-approved, offering the structural integrity needed for high-performance training and competition. A rigid shank embedded within the midsole prevents over-flexing and maintains the rocker motion essential to MBT’s movement philosophy.

The tread pattern follows the Meyers line, a biomapped curve that reflects natural pressure movement from heel to toe. It’s reinforced to support the base of the big toe, the little toe, and the lateral longitudinal arch, helping to stabilize the foot and maintain natural alignment on impact.

Engineered with a Level 2 negative heel, the MBT 2000 shifts gait dynamics toward a 50% stance / 50% swing phase, compared to the typical 60/40 walking cycle. This results in an earlier toe-off, which reduces energy loss and increases forward propulsion—ideal for both efficient walking and powerful running.

Finally, the outsole features midfoot flex grooves integrated into the figure-eight tread design. These grooves are strategically placed along the natural flex points of the foot to improve gait fluidity and support efficient transition through the mid-stance phase. They also provide enhanced traction and grip, even in wet or slippery conditions.

Whether you're chasing a personal best or just walking for wellness, the MBT 2000 sole delivers consistent support, efficient movement, and all-day comfortmile after mile.
