MBT Footwear In The News
Health Magazine Names MBT MTR-1500 II the Best Cushioning Shoe! The MTR Rocker-Bottom is a Moderate Rock (Level 2) Sole. The pivot axis is a little more pronounced in this sole compared to other MBT Soles which encourages a mid-foot stance that activates your muscles promoting better posture. Better posture can help aleviate various forms of pain, particularly because better posture reinforces the natural alignment of the spine which removes strain on muscles compared to a posture that hunches over or slouches.
The MBT MTR-1500 sole is a Level 2 rocker-bottom platform designed for training, rehabilitation, and all-around mobility. Blending structure with flexibility, this sole is ideal for users who need joint-friendly support, whether they’re pursuing fitness, recovering from injury, or simply walking throughout the day.
As a Level 2 sole, the MTR-1500 creates a midfoot stance by slightly elevating the heel and encouraging a centered, stable foot position. This promotes fluid transitions and reduced load on joints, helping the body move naturally and efficiently.
The sole is composed of four distinct performance components:
Heel Sensor (33%) – A large zone of soft shock-absorbing foam cushions each heel strike. While it doesn’t include a dimple like some other MBT soles, its generous size ensures excellent impact reduction—ideal for walking, light training, and recovery movements.
Pivot Strike Zone (22%) – Uniquely wide and extended, this rigid midfoot zone guides the foot through a smooth, controlled rolling motion. Its design provides a stable platform that minimizes wobble and enhances gait consistency.
Midfoot and Toe (45%) – Made from firm EVA foam, this section includes strategically placed flex channelsthat allow a small degree of flexion—just enough to enable an efficient toe-off without sacrificing overall support.
Non-Marking Rubber Tread – The outsole follows the Meyers line, a natural foot pressure path, and includes grippy rubber zones that provide traction across surfaces without leaving marks—making the sole perfect for indoor use as well as outside.
Like all Level 2 MBT soles, the MTR-1500 adjusts the gait cycle to a 50% stance / 50% swing phase, compared to the typical 60/40. This allows for a faster, smoother toe-off that reduces muscle fatigue and encourages better energy transfer—whether you're walking briskly or recovering between higher-impact activities.
Support is placed at key pressure points:
Base of the big toe
Base of the little toe
Along the lateral longitudinal arch
This contributes to greater stability, balance, and posture alignment—especially helpful for those with low arches, mild pronation, or instability concerns.
The MTR-1500 sole is highly versatile, making it an excellent choice for:
Cross-training routines
Post-rehab mobility work
Daily walking or occupational use
Low-impact therapy environments
Its carefully calibrated proportions provide the ideal blend of torque, propulsion, and support, making it a go-to solution for users seeking stability without rigidity and mobility without compromise.
